Senior Group Financial Controller

This is a leading ASX-listed, Australian-founded global organisation operating in a high-growth, acquisition-driven environment. The group manages a large and complex multi-entity structure across multiple jurisdictions and is supported by a high-performing Group Finance function based in Sydney CBD. The business continues to expand through active M&A, offering exposure to complex transactions and strategic finance initiatives.

About the role

This is a senior leadership role within Group Financial Control, reporting into executive finance leadership. The position plays a critical role across group consolidation, statutory reporting, and technical accounting, while partnering closely with senior stakeholders on complex group matters and M&A activity.

You will also contribute to finance transformation initiatives, lead senior finance team members, and support Board-level reporting in a fast-paced, listed environment.

Responsibilities

Group Financial Control & Reporting

• Lead group consolidation and statutory reporting for an ASX-listed entity.
• Manage complex group structures, including foreign currency translation, ownership structures, and non-controlling interests.
• Oversee statutory financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
• Support Board-level and senior executive reporting.

Technical Accounting & M&A

• Provide technical accounting expertise on M&A activity, complex transactions, and the implementation of new accounting standards.
• Partner with senior leadership on acquisition accounting and integration matters.
• Ensure robust technical accounting positions across the group.

Audit, Leadership & Transformation

• Manage external audits and act as a key point of contact with auditors.
• Lead, mentor, and develop senior finance team members.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across group finance processes.
• Contribute to finance transformation and system improvement projects.

Skills / Experience required

• CA qualified with 10+ years’ experience.
• Big 4 or chartered accounting background, ideally a second-mover into industry.
• Strong technical accounting expertise, including group consolidation and M&A accounting.
• Experience operating in a complex, multi-entity and/or ASX-listed environment.
• Confident communicator with the ability to engage senior executives and stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
